hoorenz | Received Dragon Models' 1:6 Buzz Aldrin figure in the mail today. Great model, really. Any hints from other owners as to how to fit the helmet over his head? Anyone tried to remove the head, dismantle the helmet and build up everything around the head before placing it back on the model? |
oralsurg | Just place your thumb on the nose and compress the face while slipping on the helmet. It will go on without anything breaking or being permantly deformed. |
hoorenz | The head supplied with "Buzz" is very stiff. The neck ring does not even fit over his forehead — the nose (if you ever get the helmet that far) will be only the next problem. |
oralsurg | You can compress the head and slightly (and I do mean slightly!) compress the helmet side to side. The helmet will go over the head. I have done it without breaking anything. |
hoorenz | I guess it is a permanent situation thereafter? No chance to get the helmet off again? Which is okay with me, by the way. It is either Buzz with inner helmet on, or just the outer helmet with gold visor down. Maybe I will warm up his head a little with hot water first, I have an idea that might be helpful. |
oralsurg | The helmet will come off agin without a problem. You can warm it if you want to but that should not be required. Not a big deal really. |
hoorenz | Squeezed the head as hard as I could and put his helmet on. A little paint damage to the nose but his head is in. Yes, it can be done. Thanks for the support! |
John K. Rochester | How do you connect the PLSS backpack to the figure using the chest piece with straps. Are there loops? And here's a tip to those who have not received theirs yet: do not attempt to remove the chest mounted camera using the hand hold from the plastic casing the figure comes in. It is very delicate and will break off (and I cant get the camera to slide onto the chest mount either). |
oralsurg | Some do not come with loops for the attachment but you can find locations to place the hooks. |
John K. Rochester | Thanks for the insight. Buzz's PLSS is now secured and he's ready for the EVA. I just took my time and used little squares of velcro. |
